Gomira is an ancient animistic tradition of Bengal where villagers worship their local deities through vibrant wooden mask dances. Celebrated mainly at the end of the Bengali year, it is a ritual of devotion and gratitude. The performance seeks protection from evil and blessings for prosperity and a good harvest.

When I asked people about Gomira, 90% of them didn’t even know what this mask was.
That really affected me, and I felt I should create something archival that could at least promote this craft and tradition, which is fading away without our notice.The real problem wasn’t just that I hadn’t heard of Gomira. It was the realization of how easily pieces of our own culture can fade from our awareness, and how unbothered we’ve become about it.
